  170.    The File Management System:
  171.  
  172.         No other TBBS file system to date incorporates substantial
  173.         online file management.  The File Management System (FMS)
  174.         is a sophisticated management program supplementing the
  175.         powerful design of FTS PRO.

  177.         FMS makes editing/adding descriptions and comments as well
  178.         as moving/copying/deleting/adding files a snap; the
  179.         descriptions can even be imported from any text file within
  180.         an archive!  Equally as important, the FMS interface has
  181.         been designed to allow for the smallest learning curve
  182.         possible, making FMS one of the most intuitive management
  183.         systems ever written.

  185.         In addition to its sophisticated file handling functions,
  186.         FMS has the ability to alert the sysop of files listed in
  187.         the File Directory which do not exist on the disk.
  188.         Conversely, FMS can determine files that exist on the disk
  189.         but not in the File Directory.  This makes adding new files
  190.         as simple as copying them to the DOS sub-directory you want
  191.         and running FMS!

  193.         Finally, FMS includes the basis for an open architecture
  194.         user management system.  This allows any TDBS or DOS based
  195.         program to indirectly modify any user's userlog account.

  197.         FMS takes advantage of this design by providing the sysop
  198.         with the option of removing bytes from a user's account when
  199.         deleting a file he/she uploaded!

  201.         For your convenience we have written both a TDBS ONLINE (.TPG)
  202.         version and DOS executable (.EXE) version of FMS.

  205.    Sysop Control Panel:
  206.  
  207.         The Sysop Control Panel (SYSCTRL) provides even greater ONLINE
  208.         functionality to the FTS PRO system.  TICK processing allows
  209.         systems connected to File Distribution Networks such as SDN to
  210.         import their file packets WITHOUT shutting down to run TICK.
  211.         Additionally, if server control software is being used the
  212.         archive will be scanned for a FILE_ID.DIZ extended description
  213.         file and, if present, will use it instead of the one line TICK
  214.         description.  Furthermore, a RENAME option is provided to allow
  215.         automatically renaming files during the import process
  216.         (eg: .SDN to .ARJ).

  218.         SYSCTRL also provides ONLINE ASCII file list creation, including
  219.         the File Directories, .FAR files, and .ALL master list files!

  221.         Finally, ONLINE Disk Names configuration allows changing the
  222.         location or ONLINE status of any disk configured, which makes
  223.         CD-ROM rotations a snap!

  228.         PROSETUP is the key to FTS PRO's configuration and installation.
  229.         Never again will you be forced to edit a confusing text
  230.         configuration file, create directories, or perform specific
  231.         upgrade steps... PROSETUP handles it all!

  233.         PROSETUP is a professional menu and mouse driven DOS application
  234.         with full online help and a highly intuitive interface.  It rids
  235.         you of the complicated command line switches which push your Opt
  236.         Data strings to the limit (64 characters).  Never again be

  257.    BBS software developers and operators realized the need for server
  258.    control software several years ago as an important step in expanding
  259.    the capabilities of BBS systems.  For integrated multitasking BBS
  260.    systems such as TBBS and The Major BBS, server control software has
  261.    almost become a requirement for creating a versatile system.
  262.  
  263.    Because integrated multitasking programs become the operating system
  264.    rather than run on top of it, individual nodes cannot execute DOS
  265.    programs or commands.  This severly limits the operations that can be
  266.    performed by the BBS: simple things like running PKUNZIP are impossible!
  267.    Server control software overcomes this major limitation.  CopyIt/2 is
  268.    the premier server control software for PC-DOS and OS/2.
  269.  
  270.    In its most basic context, CopyIt/2 waits for request files from any
  271.    CopyIt/2 enabled application.  CopyIt/2 then dynamically schedules
  272.    current tasks and sends a response to each application.  There is no
  273.    limit to the number of tasks or requests CopyIt/2 can handle at one time.

  275.    CopyIt/2 was originally written to expand the functionality of
  276.    FTS PRO (our replacement for the standard TBBS file system);
  277.    however, it was designed with many potential applications in mind.
  278.    With FTS PRO, CopyIt/2 enables zero-impact CD-ROM support, archive
  279.    extraction, GIF previewing, real-time faxing, and other features which
  280.    can only be accomplished with server control software:

  282.    CD-ROM:  CopyIt/2's most useful feature may be its zero-impact
  283.    CD-ROM support.  When a users marks files for download on a CD-ROM, those
  284.    files should be copied to a hard drive for download.  If the BBS machine
  285.    is forced to handle all of these disk intensive tasks, its performance
  286.    suffers tremendously.  With CopyIt/2, the BBS simply sends a message
  287.    to the server telling it to copy all marked files.  When enough of the
  288.    files have been copied, the server will send a message back to the BBS
  289.    that it is safe to start the download.

  291.    ARCHIVE EXTRACTION:  Users can extract any archive format ONLINE as
  292.    long as the extraction utility exists on the server.  Users can then
  293.    view and download any internal files.
  294.  
  295.    GIF PREVIEWING:  Users can view any number of GIF files at one time by
  296.    compressing them into a single GIF.
  297.  
  298.    REAL-TIME FAXING:  A fax module supplements CopyIt/2.  The CI2FAX module
  299.    allows CopyIt/2 to process fax requests from a BBS as well as providing
  300.    several fax utilities.

  302.    SHELLING:  CopyIt/2 can suspend its execution in order to run another
  303.    application.

  305.    SPAWNING:  Under OS/2, CopyIt/2 can spawn native OS/2 processes which
  306.    OS/2 manages simultaneously while CopyIt/2 continues to execute.

  308.    Several of CopyIt/2's features have been utilized in our other software
  309.    products including RFS and FRS.  Additionally, CopyIt/2's interface
  310.    specification is available to anyone interested in developing software
  311.    for it.  Because CopyIt/2 is the successor to CopyIt!, it features a

  315.    The OS/2 version of CopyIt/2 'sleeps' while it is not processing
  316.    requests.  This frees your server for other tasks and opens up new

  319.    run under OS/2, they should operate fairly well on such low line

  385.    request for OFFLINE files.

  402.    uploads, files, extended descriptions, comments, invisible files,

  419.           update his own information.  After successfully completing
